Possibly supreme court will rule tariffs were illegally mandated. The pres used IEEPA law to justify tariffs (hasn't been used prior howeven Nixon did something similar to impose 10% tariffs across the board)
The contended issues about using IEEPA law:
#1 Trade Deficits Are Not Foreign in Origin
Argument is US trade policies have caused deficits, not foreign policies. The pres is also outspoken about blaming deficits on US policy and past presidents. It is likely the criteria is not met to satisfy the requirements of using IEEPA.
#4 The authorities must be exercised to deal with that threat and not for any other purpose.
There is apparently a trove of evidence about this requirement.
Techically it seems IEEPA law cannot be used to mandate tariffs as they have been and the court could very likely rule against the pres despite political pressure and the large cost of potentially refunding all the collected monies. Essentially a clusterfuck.
