I hear since yesterday that lots of people from Twitter are going to migrate to the fediverse (i.e. Mastodon basically). Does that mean that until now Twitter was virtuous and ethical? Did I miss something?

Je ne comprends pas bien en quoi le rachat par Musk change quoi que ce soit... j'ai sans doute également loupé un truc / I don't quite understand how the Musk buyout changes anything... I must have missed something too.

LOL. As I've heard someone else say, they would have to work hard to make it worse that it already is. A lot of them are probably just butt-hurt that a "bad (by definition), rich man" bought it and that was all the thought that was required to make a decision.

They were already losing money AFAIK. It will be interesting to see if it turns to black i registered for twitter at the beginning but if the whole thing shut down or my twitter account vanished i wouldn't notice. They had a slow moving pet project to federate, i would guess that's over?

I think a lot of problems would be solved by ripping the algorithm out of it. One of the things that irked me about Facebook (and I assume Twitter has the same issue) is that if I follow person A and person B follows me, I expect to see everything A posts and I expect person B to see everything I post, but it doesn't work like that. If they made it work like you'd expect instead of trying to curate your feed to
stoke outrage
encourage engagement, I think it would solve a lot of problems.
