They did something like this in Dominican Republic, then the military went around deporting many people. Show up at a door "oh your great grandmother came here illegally we are deporting her whole family tree" then take them leaving all their possesions, house, cars etc. No matter 3 generations were born in the country :)

For sure all the Europeans in the USA started off as non-citizens. Like at what point did Trump's family heritage become a US citizen?

I think I'm finished having kids but I think there's probably truth to this article. Yet again the people who support this administration are likely to get burned by it. If they change the birthright citizenship law then US Citizens will have to prove their citizenship (and possibly their own parents). A county or state issued birth certificate probably won't cover it. I had to get my docs apostiled for my daughter. If you are close to your birthplace it costs 25 to 50 bucks but if you are some distance away you have to hire a service that costs slightly less or more than a flight and hotel. :) they don't do that by mail. Same for marriage certificates.
