Interesting they had (still have?) these programs for foreigners to buy run down abandoned homes in dying towns. So you get a house for a dollar or whatever and put like 100k-200k to fix it up. Then the neighbors in the dilapidated shack next door get their rent doubled because they live next to the richies. Then it's like by god look at that fancy house that's worth like half a million we better tax it 100%.
