- Laser printer causes an electrical power glitch, backup power supply turns on, immediately turns off because its battery is dead.
- One computer (mine), cable modem, router, landline phone are all down.
- I think we dusted here 2 or 3 years ago. Fetch dust mask, dust mop, dust rags. Ouch, fetch kneeler pad too.
- Replace the "uninterruptable" power supply with a 25-year-old power strip.
- Turn on computer. BIOS has forgotten everything because its battery is dead too. Default "secure boot" won't let Linux start.
- Find notes from 9½ years ago, fix the BIOS settings. Computer starts. Hooray for paper notes!
