How often do you read a mainstream #
media
(as compared to topic-specific media) article about a topic that is your specialty and think "they have this so wrong"?
Why would you think they are any better on topics that you don't know as much about?

I've never once seen an accurate news article describing an event that I had first-hand knowledge of - going back the last 50-60 years. The facts are all imaginary, and the tech descriptions are hilarious.

Every time it happens to me (to read an article that's off the mark on a subject I know), I say the same thing: I hope it's not the same on the rest of the writings.

I have heard one way they write a one-sided article is to call someone at 3am or something and leave a message asking if the person has comments to include, then the reporter puts in "so and so declined to comment" and hits submit... at 3:03am for example
