I'm playing a little with `arrange apps' and I noticed that the order I decide on the phone then on the computer changes, and vice versa. Does this happen to you too?

Do you mean it only changes it on your phone but not on your computer?

Seems to work for me - provided that if you change it on one device, you reload the page on the other before concluding that it failed.

In truth it didn't completely fail, it changed the order but not the same as what I had decided, but it definitely didn't stay the same. Maybe it's due to the fact that I have an item (languages app) placed in the top bar and this item in the phone is the first item that appears in the menu?

So now I'm at the PC again, and after reloading the pages in the 2 devices:
photos, events, directory, settings have respected the decided order and are the same in the 2 devices, while the order of the remaining apps is different in the 2 devices.

...always remembering that the language app element is in the top bar on the PC (by my choice) and on the phone it is always placed as the first element of the menu.
And maybe, just a guess, that's what affects the order of other apps that change position.

OK, I think I understand. I forgot about this behaviour. If you've got a dozen apps on the top bar and shrink the screen to fit on a phone, the top bar apps
probably
won't fit on the top bar any more. So we have to remove them from the top bar. These are things you thought were important and wanted to keep accessible.
So what we do is put the top bar items (in top bar order) onto the phone's special app-menu followed by the normal app menu items (in app menu order). I don't consider that a bug. I've just added a divider so you can see at a glance that they are two separate app lists (and also fixed the app management links at the bottom of the list). Hopefully that will make the behaviour more intuitive and obvious.

I have now, today, 2 apps in the top bar, yesterday just 1, but what I can see is that just 3 or 4 apps remains in the same order, the apps in the topbar go in the first place in the menu, ok, I understand this, but there are always the rest, 3 or 4 apps in a different order in the devices... And those are not the apps in the top bar.

If I can duplicate what you're seeing I can fix it.
I can't duplicate it and I've spent hours trying. Please give me
precise
instructions how to repeat what you're seeing or I can't help.
You can simulate the phone screen by shrinking the desktop screen. This removes any browser caching and whether or not you've re-loaded the latest changes from the equation. If you see something different shrinking the desktop screen from what you see on the phone after reloading both to ensure that you're working with current data, it isn't a streams issue - it's a browser cache issue. And it's quite possible I can't fix it.

Incidentally, you can also look at
https://rumbly.net/pconfig/system/app_order
and
https://rumbly.net/pconfig/system/app_pin_order
to verify the stored positions are what you think they should be.

last position
using
pc
, and in phone it changed all the order again, the stream app is in
fourth position
, but the others also changed all the order which is completely different from the previous one, and also completely different from the one in the pc.

Forget the menu for a minute and whether or not it's a phone or desktop and even whether it's in the navbar. Maybe I should be asking this question: if you change the app_order and then look at the pconfig for app_order, do these two match?

one positive thing: finally what I now see in the menu on the pc is the same as the one on

after the last change, the one related to app stream , at least my PC and
https://rumbly.net/pconfig/system/app_order
match, so probably the problem is my chromium phone browser.
Before the last change I had 3 different orders and none matched.

last experiment for today: now i changed order again, but this time using phone,
the good thing is that order in phone and order in
https://rumbly.net/pconfig/system/app_order
match,
the negative is that the order in the computer is all wrong again and does not correspond to the other 2, and cleaning the cache in the pc does not solve anything.

I still can't duplicate the problem, but I think it's fixed. Your app order might be screwy after the next update, but set it right and it should maintain its order across devices. The difference is that we aren't making decisions based on the app name, because it could change when translations are in effect. So now we're storing the guid, which uniquely identifies which app you want in that slot.

Mike, considering the behavior of pinned apps in the case of a phone or a small window they are automatically moved to the main menu, isn't it better to work with exclusion, like that
the star excludes the pin
and
the pin excludes the star
instead of existing the
possibility to mark both
?
Or is my logic leaking? Maybe I'm not considering something important, and this happens more and more as the years go by... :)

I feel people should be allowed to decide for themselves what works best for them. Nobody said you had to select both.
