I pulled the post from my old mastodon account. Instead of embedding the audio in the post, it just links to the file in Zap (which can be played in the browser).

That's how my audio clips used to go. I was thinking about getting back into it. I used to post audio clips of the crazy jokes or silliness that would pop into my head.

My Mom's family lives mostly in Washington state. I haven't seen most of them but a handful of times in my life. Back in the 70s when those portable cassette players came out my family would record a "letter" to them and they would respond in kind. It was kind of nice because we could afford mail but couldn't afford a long distance call back then. We were poorer than dirt. I didn't know what most of them looked like but I knew them by voice.
My little recordings are more or less inspired by that old family cassette back in the day so they could be about anything and nothing all at the same time. Truth be told I am a little shocked that anybody wants to listen to them at all, but so be it, they are fun to make.

I haven't been doing much in the way of writing here lately. I am too busy getting an education for a post-cabinetmaker career. My body is thrashed after doing this job for 40 years and I need to do something a lot gentler to me bones or I'll be dead way too young.
And I have had the usual spate of family related activities going on here lately so just not a lot of time anywhere in the mix...

I love that! My cousin and I used to do that too. We only lived 20 miles away from each other, but we never saw each other as much as we wanted to. We did the silliest things, recorded music off the radio with our added commentary. It was bliss!

Goodness, I couldn't even begin to guess how many tapes that I recorded off of the radio back then. Usually I was waiting for my current favourite song to come on but I finally gave up and just recorded all of a broadcast in hopes of hearing my fave somewhere in the mix.

Yep it is proper. My kin on my fathers side are from SE Kentucky - near Cumberland Falls and where Colonel Sanders started his first store. Them are country folk. If the hamburger meat goes bad in the fridge it is RURNT! (R spoken with a grunt sound.) Corn bread and "sweet milk" was mighty good eating.
I lived in the Republic of TX for a while near Tyler. One of my sons was born there. First time I saw one of those oil wells going up and down.
Now I live "somewhere over the rainbow" in SE Asia with banana and coconut trees all around.
The men carry machetes to harvest food and kill snakes - fighting roosters everywhere!
I'm fixing to go to sleep.

This is my recreation of page that I had created in BBCode for an almost non-existent podcast that I had started a few months ago.
The audio above really doesn't have anything on it. I just created it so that I could see how things worked from my zap account to mastodon. Zap is my preferred platform and is the only one that I will use in the future. This "podcast," if that is what this is, will live only there. With any sort of luck though, it will bounce around various places in the
Fediverse
and be heard by some folks who must be terribly daft if they are listening to me babble.

No the xmpp link doesn't work. Firstly, it is not a real address. I don't use the jabber.org account as it is flooded with spam and I do not have another account anywhere. Secondly, not all browsers read all URIs. I am guessing that zap can not read the URI for an XMPP account. It is ok, it works with a normal webpage and most browsers out there.
