Does anyone here live in Michigan? My wife would like to move closer to her family in Indiana, so Michigan looks like a decent option. I am curious what the culture is like.

I’ve lived in Michigan for most of my life and still enjoy it. It’s a beautiful state and you should be able to find a good spot for yourself. The biggest issue is the poor public transportation, but if you’re willing to deal with that I think you would enjoy it here. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions about specific areas or anything else

Thanks for the tips! My wife's family lives in northern Indiana, so she would like to live in the southern part of Michigan.. Are there towns down that way that would be nicer? We would prefer less ..Republican.. so to speak.

I’d highly recommend checking out Ann Arbor or Ferndale. I like both areas but i personally prefer Ferndale. It’s a little more left wing, less expensive, and still has an edge. But Ann Arbor’s location is more convenient and the schools are highly regarded.
So I think if you are looking to raise a family Ann Arbor. Having fun, Ferndale.
Sadly I’m not super familiar with the culture on the west side of the state but I know it is certainly more conservative

i help a friend with her Real Estate business near Grand Rapids. She can help at any price level. I don't know how she votes but ahe lives in a mansion, brings artists from all over the world to stay with her, has a crazy huge collection of gemstones. She used to travel to Harbin in california once a month before the fire.

We do have kids, so I will start exploring Ann Arbor.

Yeah Grand Rapids is a very cute town! Unfortunately I haven’t spent enough time to get a read of the culture but I’ve always enjoyed my time there
