In the US the stereotype for 'Mexican Music' is that crazy polka music. I lived in Mexico for a whole year and never anybody playing that shit one time. I'd say actual "mexican" music is more like bluegrass. :)

Some of the best bluegrass I've ever heard comes from the Aussie outback. Go figure.

Some of the best I have heard comes from The Czech Republic and another good source is Norway.

EDIT: NOT Norway (which may have a bluegrass tradition, I don't know) but FINLAND. The folks I found look just like throwbacks to the hillbillies of Appalachia
